Clinical Pathology Residency

The Clinical Pathology Residency Program provides three years of advanced training with an option for a graduate degree if desired. The program goal is to provide proficiency in diagnostic clinical pathology. The training incorporates preparation for the ACVP certification exam, as well as experience in teaching and giving oral presentations.

The program strengths include:

  • proficiency in diagnostic clinical pathology;
  • an emphasis on teaching both at the DVM student and resident level;
  • exposure to cases involving a wide variety of infectious diseases;
  • externship with Antech Labs that offers exposure to a large number of samples and disease processes;
  • the opportunity to participate in small group and didactic teaching;
  • weekly rounds in both clinical and anatomic pathology, with an emphasis on preparation for boards (case write-ups, mock boards).

The training activities are service duty, presentations in rounds, teaching fourth year small group diagnostics rotation, didactic lectures in cytology elective and/or sophomore clinical pathology course and independent study.  Additional training includes an externship with Antech Labs in Irvine, California.
