Meet the Staff
Marjorie E. Gross, DVM, MS, DACVAA
Dr. Meg Gross received her DVM from Oklahoma State University in 1985. She completed an Anesthesia Internship at OSU in 1986, and a Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Illinois in 1989. Gross is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, and was on faculty at the University of Missouri-Columbia for 17 years. Since 2006, she has been the head of Anesthesia Services at the OSU Veterinary Medical Hospital. OSU Veterinary Medical Hospital since 2006.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, needlework, home remodeling, and spending time with her dog and cat children.
Kip Lemke, DVM, MSc, DACVAA
Originally from Normal, Ill., Dr. Lemke earned his BSc (1981), DVM (1983) and MSc (1993) from the University of Illinois. He is also a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (1995). Lemke's research interests focus on neural blockade in dogs and balanced anesthesia in horses.
Lemke has earned the Pfizer Carl J. Norden Distinguished Teacher Award (2000) and the Pfizer Grant for Innovation in Teaching Methodology (2010). He was on the Board of Scientific Reviewers for the American Journal of Veterinary Research from 2002-2005. Lemke currently sits on the Editorial Board of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (2010-present) and has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters on anesthesiology and pain management.
Justin Hicks, RVT
Justin Hicks graduated from the Murray State College Veterinary Technician Program in May 2015, and became an RVT in August 2015. Justin joined the Anesthesia Team in November 2015. His main interest is large animal anesthesia, and he anticipates pursuing specialty status in Anesthesia.
Justin has a wide variety of hobbies, which include team roping, volunteering with Special Olympics Equestrian Competition, car shows, hunting, fishing, and all kinds of sports, as well as spending quality time with family, friends, and wildlife!
Dianne Hudson, RVT, VTS (Anesthesia)
Dianne Hudson graduated with an associate's degree in Animal Health from Murray State College in 1983. Her entire career has been spent at the Veterinary Medical Hospital, where she has worked for Small Animal Medicine, Equine Medicine and Surgery, and Small Animal ICU. In 1991, Dianne moved to the Anesthesia Service, and gained Anesthesia specialist status in February of 2003.
Dianne and her husband, Rob, have raised their two sons and now share their lives with three cats (Squeak, El Diablo Gatto, and Mattilda), Dianne’s barrel-racing horse (KoKo), and a flock of chickens.
Mayte Aleman-Carter, RVT
Originally from Panama, Mayte came to Oklahoma State University to pursue a Master of Science in Animal Reproduction in the Department of Animal Science in 2003. After completing her M.S. degree, she continued her education and completed the Veterinary Technician program at Tulsa Community College graduating in 2007.
Mayte started working at Oklahoma State University’s Veterinary Medical Hospital as a floating technician in 2008. Shortly after that, she took an anesthesia technician position in the anesthesia department. Last year she transferred to the Oncology and Theriogenology departments.
Mayte is married and has two children. She spends her free time with family and her horses.
Miranda Maschek, RVT
Miranda Maschek graduated from the Tulsa Community College Veterinary Technology Program in May 2015, and joined the Anesthesia Team shortly after graduation. She became an RVT in July of 2015, and one of her goals is to earn specialty status in Anesthesia. Miranda has a particular interest in turtles and tortoises. She enjoys spending her free time going to Stillwaggin’ Dog Park with her dogs, Bandit and Ghost.
Allie Mitchell, RVT
Allie Mitchell received an associate’s degree in Pre-Vet Sciences from Tulsa Community College in 2011. She then moved to Stillwater to attend OSU, where she earned a BS degree in Zoology with a minor in Microbiology in 2013. Allie received an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from OSU-OKC in 2016. Allie served as secretary for OSU-OKC’s Veterinary Technician Student Association, helping to educate the community and potential students about the value of the registered technician degree.
She enjoys volunteering in the Stillwater community, focusing on shelter medicine and spay/neuter operations. Her favorite hobbies include running, hiking and yoga. When she can really get away she loves to travel, especially to places where she can scuba dive. At home, she has a mixed animal family: a dog, two cats, a parrot, a rabbit and a gecko.
Shalee Ratliff, RVT
Shalee Ratliff graduated from the Tulsa Community College Veterinary Technology Program in May 2013, earning RVT status in July 2013. Shalee joined the Anesthesia Team in January 2015, and anticipates earning specialty status in Anesthesia.
Shalee’s school activities included running track, and she continues to enjoy a variety of physical activities, including playing softball. Shalee also enjoys hunting, spending time with her Blue Heeler Ollie (and her puppies!) and considers herself to be a “lake and river bum” in her free time.
