Sisk's Story: Left On His Own

Left in the hot summer sun on a country road near Wichita Falls, Texas, the one-year-old pit bull mix didn’t know there was anything wrong with him.  Social media reports said an abandoned dog had been seen by a red gate on Sisk Road.  On Facebook, someone tagged Amber Browning, a Texas Pit Crew board member, asking her organization to help the dog.  The posted pictures and video showed a young dog with serious problems.

It’s 7:30 a.m. and time to start giving patients their morning treatments at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in Navasota, Texas.  At 8 a.m. the clinic will open and more patients will arrive.  The clinic will close at 5 p.m. and by 6 p.m. the ‘morning’ treatments will be completed.  At 8 p.m.

Impaled Dog Treated by OSU Veterinarians

No one knows how it happened—they can only guess.  It’s a miracle he’s alive.  It certainly isn’t the type of case that veterinarians at OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital are used to seeing.  Riley, a 7-year-old pointer/pit bull mix, somehow impaled himself with a stick on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014.

(Stillwater, Okla., July 31, 2014) – Dr. Letrisa Miller (OSU CVM class of 1998) has been chosen as one of only 20 finalists for America’s Favorite Veterinarian.  Selected by an American Veterinary Medical Foundation review panel from more than 700 nominations, she is the only graduate from Oklahoma State University.
