OSU Veterinary Center Joins AAVMC Celebration

The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) recently launched a year-long celebration in honor of the organization’s 50th anniversary.  As one of the AAVMC’s member organizations, Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences recognizes the support the AAVMC provides veterinary colleges around the world.

The AAVMC is striving to illuminate the critical role that academic veterinary medicine plays in the modern world and build greater awareness and support for its mission.

The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges is a nonprofit membership organization working to protect and improve the health and welfare of animals, people and the environment by advancing academic veterinary medicine. Its members include 35 veterinary medical colleges in the United States and Canada, nine departments of veterinary sciences, eight departments of comparative medicine, 13 international colleges of veterinary medicine, and six affiliate colleges of veterinary medicine.

“One of the major contributions the AAVMC has made to academic veterinary medicine is streamlining the application process for those wanting to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine,” said Chris Ross, DVM, PhD, associate dean for academic affairs. “Applicants just visit the AAVMC website, complete one application and select the colleges they want it distributed to rather than applying to each individual veterinary college that student is interested in.”
