Ehrlichia PCR Testing

ticksTick-borne diseases are common in dogs, but may be challenging to diagnose clinically.

OADDL offers a PCR panel for the following:

  • E. canis
  • E. chaffeensis
  • E. ewingii

Panel Test fee: $45.00
Sample required: EDTA whole blood (1-2 mL)
Turn-around time: 1-2 business days

Dogs with ehrlichiosis may exhibit any combination of fever, lethargy, lymphadenopathy, thrombocytopenia, lameness, joint pain and oculonasal discharge. Clinical signs depend on the species of Ehrlichia involved and the dog’s immune system. Some dog breeds (e.g. German shepherd, Doberman pinscher and greyhound) are particularly susceptible to more severe disease.
